More than 100 million people, including at least 15 million children, now employ e-cigarettes, propelling a fresh trend of nicotine addiction, per recent global medical findings.

E-cigarettes are propelling a "recent wave" of nicotine habit, commented a senior health official. "They are advertised as damage limitation but, truthfully, are hooking children on nicotine at younger ages and risk weakening generations of improvement."

"Numerous of people are ceasing, or avoiding tobacco usage due to tobacco regulation measures by countries throughout the world," he said.

"In response to this strong improvement, the tobacco sector is fighting back with recent nicotine devices, forcefully aiming at adolescents. Administrations must act quicker and more vigorously in enacting proven tobacco-control measures," he added.

The vaping numbers are a projection since several countries - 109 in sum, and several in African and South-East Asia - do not gather data.

Per the analysis, as of recent February this year, at bare minimum 86 million e-cigarette users were adults, primarily in developed states.

And at least 15 million teenagers between the ages of 13 and 15 currently use e-cigarettes, based on studies from 123 nations.

Although several nations have tried to introduce e-cigarette policies to tackle youth vaping in recent years, by the close of 2024, 62 states yet had no measure in operation, and 74 states had no age restriction at which e-cigarettes are allowed to be bought, reports the medical authority.

Simultaneously, tobacco use has been declining - from an approximated 1.38 billion users in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.

Occurrence of tobacco use among females fell the most - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.

Among males, the drop was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.

But 20% of adults globally yet uses tobacco.
