The English golfer Secures the Abu Dhabi Title in Thrilling Play-Off Showdown Versus Tommy Fleetwood
The 30-year-old golfer demonstrated remarkable composure to claim the prestigious Abu Dhabi title on Sunday, defeating Tommy Fleetwood in a dramatic playoff following a rollercoaster last day of play.
Rai sank a crucial birdie from around eight foot to clinch the win, repeating his sole prior Rolex Series success at the 2020 Scottish Open, which was also a playoff win against Fleetwood.
Final Round Excitement
The champion entered the final round with a one-shot lead over fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood and Denmark’s Nicolai Højgaard. He ended up with a total score of twenty-under after a up-and-down, 67 final round that featured seven birdie putts and a pair of bogeys.
Fleetwood moved one shot clear with two holes remaining after a birdie on the 16th, but his rival tied it up again on the 17th and then missed a 10-foot birdie putt to win outright on the final hole.
Play-Off Decider
This set up a playoff at the Yas Links course where the eventual winner triumphed to claim the title and $1.5 million (ÂŁ1.13 million) in winnings.

Other Performances
Rory McIlroy found himself just too much to do, finishing one shot behind in a shared third place with the Dane, after a spectacular 10-under final round of ten-under. It was his best-ever round on the DP World Tour, including eight birdie putts and one eagle.
The Danish golfer fired six birdies of his own, but his chances of topping the leaderboard were dented by a dropped shot on the 12th. England’s Mansell hit an excellent last round 63 to finish in a tie for fifth place with Australian Hillier.
