The top legal official in Texas Ken Paxton is suing the makers of Tylenol, asserting the firms withheld alleged dangers that the drug presented to children's cognitive development.

The court filing arrives a month after Donald Trump publicized an unsubstantiated connection between taking Tylenol - referred to as paracetamol - throughout gestation and autism in young ones.

The attorney general is suing J&J, which formerly manufactured the drug, the exclusive pain medication approved for expectant mothers, and the current manufacturer, which now manufacturers it.

In a declaration, he said they "deceived the public by making money from pain and pushing pills regardless of the potential hazards."

The company states there is no credible evidence connecting acetaminophen to autism spectrum disorder.

"These corporations lied for decades, intentionally threatening millions to boost earnings," Paxton, a Republican, stated.

The company commented that it was "seriously troubled by the dissemination of inaccurate information on the reliability of paracetamol and the potential impact that could have on the welfare of US mothers and children."

On its official site, the company also mentioned it had "regularly reviewed the pertinent research and there is no credible data that demonstrates a proven link between taking paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder."

Groups speaking for medical professionals and health professionals share this view.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has said acetaminophen - the primary component in acetaminophen - is one of the few options for expectant mothers to manage discomfort and elevated temperature, which can pose significant medical dangers if not addressed.

"In more than two decades of research on the use of paracetamol in gestation, no reliable research has definitively established that the usage of acetaminophen in any period of gestation results in neurodevelopmental disorders in offspring," the organization stated.

The court filing cites current declarations from the Trump administration in asserting the drug is allegedly unsafe.

In recent weeks, Trump caused concern from medical authorities when he instructed women during pregnancy to "resist strongly" not to take acetaminophen when sick.

Federal regulators then issued a notice that physicians should contemplate reducing the usage of Tylenol, while also stating that "a causal relationship" between the drug and autism in young ones has not been proven.

Health Secretary Kennedy, who manages the Food and Drug Administration, had promised in April to conduct "a massive testing and research effort" that would determine the source of autism spectrum disorder in a short period.

But experts warned that finding a single cause of autism spectrum disorder - thought by researchers to be the consequence of a intricate combination of genetic and external influences - would be difficult.

Autism is a form of enduring cognitive variation and disability that affects how people encounter and engage with the surroundings, and is identified using medical professional evaluations.

In his legal document, Paxton - aligned with the former president who is running for the Senate - claims the manufacturer and J&J "willfully ignored and tried to quiet the science" around acetaminophen and autism.

The Texas lawsuit parallels the concerns of a collection of guardians of young ones with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who took legal action against the manufacturers of Tylenol in recently.

The court dismissed the legal action, stating research from the plaintiffs' authorities was lacking definitive proof.
