Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.
The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Claims Posted on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
Rice missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
