Fans eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait the full month. A free-to-play trial experience will release on Jan. 7, offering a sizable glimpse into the game's opening hours. Importantly, any save data achieved within this demo is eligible to be transferred directly into the main game upon its eventual release.

More Than a Straightforward Re-release: The Thorough Reimagining

This project is a comprehensive reimagining of the iconic year 2000 RPG, originally released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a notable departure from other Dragon Quest re-releases, like the previously launched HD-2D versions, this remake adopts a striking three-dimensional visual presentation. Locales have been crafted to resemble detailed model sets, with protagonists featuring a appealing toy-like appearance.

"Even with the previous version, the main quest was still exceptionally lengthy. Consequently, the team came to a determination that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an experience for contemporary audiences."

Key Gameplay Improvements and Modernizations

The creators have added numerous changes to update the original gameplay loop. Among these are:

• Streamlined Overworld Encounters: Taking a cue from modern role-playing games, weaker enemies can now be dispatched instantly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for initiating a full traditional combat screen.
• Adjustable Battle Pace: Players can accelerate combat animations to quickly power through easier encounters.
• New Vocation System: One brand new vocation was introduced for this reimagining. Additionally, party members gain the capacity to take on a secondary job, greatly enhancing strategic options.

These changes are designed to mitigate one of the original title's common points of feedback: its considerable length. That original storyline was known to take more than 100 hours to complete. This new edition has been specifically designed to enhance flow and cut down on any repetition.
