British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans had expressed condolences for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
