A charity drive is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to send support to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced following a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the performance was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby encompasses a group of well-known figures from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a team of music creators. The track showcases a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the campaign have emphasized that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the area was noted for its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The song is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
