Barça Set to Play First Game at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed they will play at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league 30 months since relocating so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited with 45,401 fans are permitted inside based on approved permits. Once fully finished, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held a public practice at the Camp Nou earlier this month. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht on 9 December at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
